Located about half an hour Southeast of the Las Vegas Strip, ground was broken for the Lake Las Vegas community in 1987. In the years since then, the 2242 acres that contain Lake Las Vegas have been developed to include two resorts and a Casino.  As the economy slowed, the Ritz Carlton was forced to close.  It re-opened earlier this year as the Ravella.  Loew's Lake Las Vegas has continued operations throughout the recession.  The Casino Montelago closed during the time the Ritz was closed, but has now re-opened. 

The Village at Lake Las Vegas features restaurants ranging from Italian food at Luna Rosa to a gelato shop or a pint of beer at the Auld Dubliner.  Watercraft rentals and yacht cruises are available as well. In the winter months, a rink is installed at the edge of the lake for ice-skating. After enjoying the ice, visit Santa by the tall Christmas tree at the edge of the village. For those who like to swing the clubs, the private Southshore golf course is now a public course.  Two other courses, Reflection Bay and the Falls are inside the community, both are currently closed but will hopefully re-open as our economy stabilizes.

Lake Las Vegas has formed a partnership with Outside Las Vegas Foundation and five other federal land management agencies. The goal is to protect the park lands surrounding the community, including the Lake Mead National park. With waterfalls running through the community, beautifully manicured golf courses and spectacular homes, it is no surprise that celebrities such as Celine Dion have chosen the Lake Las Vegas lifestyle.
