The Smith Center Cabaret Jazz series is demonstrating that Smith Center isn't only a place for theatre, symphony and dance.  The Center was designed with a smaller hall which only seats 258 that is now hosting the Cabaret Jazz Series.  We're fans of smaller, more intimate venues and have been looking forward to seeing a show in this setting.

This past week-end, featured Lucy Woodward an artist we weren't familiar with but we were intrigued when @SmithCenterLV tweeted "Here's a song for all the vampires out can catch Lucy Woodward this Friday and Saturday at Cabaret... "  That's just the sort of sassy, bluesy, jazzy music we happen to like.  Still, we already had dinner plans with friends for Saturday night and our

Todd English Olives at the Bellagio is one of our favorite ways to enjoy a nice Summer afternoon.  We recently paid them a return visit and got lucky with a table right next to the railing on the patio, over-looking the Bellagio Fountains.  The fountains don't start until 3 p.m. on weekdays, but on week-ends, especially holiday week-ends they start earlier and on our recent visit they were doing their show every 15 minutes, making it a great seat to enjoy our relaxing lunch. Starting with cocktails and a basket of their fresh bread accompanied with olive tapenades, the entire meal was wonderful.  We started with their Greek Salad which was not your typical version, but instead used baby red romaine lettuces topped with a phyllo triangle.  To go with the

The Bellagio Fountains have become a symbol of Las Vegas.  Whether it's in a movie or on the news, when you see those fountains, you know the location is at the Bellagio Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

For those of us who live in Las Vegas, we may not go to visit the Strip unless we're playing tour guide, or like some of us who frequently end up on the Strip as part of our work.  Having lived in Las Vegas for ten years now, I would still include the Bellagio Fountains as one of my favorite sites to see and a must see for anyone who comes to visit.

The Bellagio held its grand opening in 1998.  It was developed by visionary/Casino Mogul Steve Wynn and later sold to MGM.  With excellent service, established restaurants and other popular attractions

The Bellagio Conservatory is one of our favorite attractions on the Strip.  With a large space that is decorated to celebrate different seasons/holidays throughout the year, we try to make it by to see each of their new displays.  Each year, they tend to do a Patriotic Theme for Memorial Day and leave the display up through the July 4th holiday as well as Labor Day week-end.

This Summer's Display titled "Sail to New England" will be up through September 9th. The flowers are grown in the Bellagio's own greenhouse.  You'll find they frequently do sculptures of animals and even people using blooms from their green house to decorate them.

This display for Memorial Day features an old fashioned light house and small sailboat in the "lake" at the

The Havana Grill in Henderson reminds us of one of the reasons we love our desert life.  Located next to the Regal theaters at Eastern and Pebble, this is just North of the 215 which makes it a convenient location for us to stop for lunch when heading up to Anthem or Seven Hills for showing homes.

With a large selection of Cuban sodas, and tropical fruit juices it's easy to quench your thirst on a hot day by stopping in for lunch.  And, if it isn't a work day, they have a large selection of Cuban rums to really make you feel you're in the tropics.  Starting with the hot Cuban bread they bring to your table, you will find the food served here is authentic Cuban cuisine.  Our favorites include the Masitas (fried pieces of pork served with grilled

Boca Park at the edge of Queensridge and Summerlin offers those who live on the West side a variety of shopping and dining options.  Located at the corner of Charleston and Rampart St., the actual Boca Park Shopping Center is the section located on the Northeast corner of the intersection.  As the area has developed and more stores, restaurants have opened, most people refer to the entire intersection as Boca Park.

Locals who live nearby are able to enjoy a wide variety of stores and services without driving any further than this intersection.  On the Southwest corner, once you get past the gas station, which is one of the few in town with attendants who will actually pump gas for you, you have a few very popular businesses.  The Square Salon,

Queensridge is known for the beautiful sculptured horses you pass as you enter the community, but the beauty extends beyond the sculptures.  It was originally designed to look like an English village with perfectly manicured pine trees, lots of green grass in the front lawns and median, beautiful pine trees and roses lining the streets.

Located on the Badlands golf course, there are two sections to Queensridge.  The South side of the community is entered off Charleston with two of the sculptured horses, one on each side of the guard-gated entrance.  In the Southern part of the community one finds a community pool, tennis courts and park like areas.  The Northern side is entered off Alta and features tennis courts and parklike areas, but does not

Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin is one of our most popular golf course communities. Nestled up against the Red Rock Mountains, it offers beautiful golf, Mountain and even Strip views from some of the properties.  Homeowners can enjoy all the scenic beauty while being only minutes from the shopping, dining and entertainment that Summerlin has to offer.  Convenient access to the 215 Beltway also puts you at the Strip/Airport in as little as 20 minutes.

Homes in Red Rock Country Club include both production homes which were built by Sunrise Co in the earliest phase of development and Toll Brothers which built the final homes in the West Gate between 2004 and 2007.  In addition, there are custom homes behind second mechanical gates within the

The Estates at Southern Highlands is arguably one of our most picturesque golf course communities with their beautifully manicured lawns, ponds and trees.  Located just West of the 15 Fwy at the Southern tip of our valley, it is a private enclave that is only 5-10 mins to the Strip and Airport.  For those who drive into California frequently, it's the first exit off the 15 Fwy as you're returning to town, shaving 15-30 mins. off the drive as compared to some of our other golf communities.

Southern Highlands is built around a private golf course.  The course which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Sr. restricts their membership to only 300 members who join by invitation only.  It is also one of the most exclusive
