Las Vegas Premium Outlets North is the newest of our Outlet/Discount shopping malls.  Located on Grand Central Parkway, between Charleston and Bonneville, it's easy to spot the center from the 15 Freeway.

The Simon Group which operates the mall has acquired the old Beltz Premium Outlet Center on the South Strip.  They've recently given what is now known as Premium Outlets South a facelift with updated flooring and lighting, but we still prefer the stores and the outdoor environment of the Las Vegas Premium Outlets North.  Even on the hottest day, you'll find lots of shoppers strolling through the mall, enjoying the over-head misters in between stops into the various stores.

The stores that you'll find here represent a wide array of styles,

Nora's Cuisine on West Flamingo at Jones offers the sort of neighborhood atmosphere with great food that we don't find on every street corner in Vegas. From the minute you walk into Nora's Cuisine and smell the garlic, you know this is not one of those Americanized Italian restaurants.  The stack of pizza boxes waiting to be filled in the kitchen area make it obvious that they sell a lot of pizzas.  And we have loved their pie when we've had it, but they're much more than a pizza parlor.

The restaurant opened in 1991.  It is a family owned business.  Gino & Nora Mauro opened with only 12 seats.  Over the years they've expanded and now their three sons are active in the business.  You can pick from a quieter dining area on the left side of the

Las Vegas celebrates the fourth of July with its own unique style.  When I moved here ten years ago, I quickly discovered that the fireworks in this town are some of the best I've seen for the July 4th holiday.  While San Francisco does a beautiful show over the bay, it's all centralized in the one spot.  The show in Vegas is all over town. This year's fireworks will include the Northwest, with the master planned community of Providence hiring Pyrotecnico to do a 16 minute display to shows at Mission Hills Park in Henderson.  Other shows will be at the Station Casinos throughout the valley.  One of the reasons I find the fireworks in Las Vegas so spectacular is that they are spread all over town.  In addition to the shows that are planned by the

Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas continues to attract new businesses and visitors.  We recently took some time to show a friend a bit of the downtown area.  Starting with Happy Hour at Mundo in the World Market Center, on to Le Thai and then exploring the action on the street.

Even on a Monday night in June, folks were out enjoying the free band and the Zip line that allows you to go flying over the crowds at 30 mph.  Tickets for the Zip Line are currently $15 before 6 p.m., $20 after 6 p.m.

There are some great new dining options.  Le Thai offers some of the best Pad Thai in town, they have a full bar, and reasonable prices, all in a relaxed atmosphere.  For the adventurous, there is the Heart Attack Grill where two diners have had heart

The Smith Center Cabaret Jazz series is demonstrating that Smith Center isn't only a place for theatre, symphony and dance.  The Center was designed with a smaller hall which only seats 258 that is now hosting the Cabaret Jazz Series.  We're fans of smaller, more intimate venues and have been looking forward to seeing a show in this setting.

This past week-end, featured Lucy Woodward an artist we weren't familiar with but we were intrigued when @SmithCenterLV tweeted "Here's a song for all the vampires out there...you can catch Lucy Woodward this Friday and Saturday at Cabaret... http://fb.me/1A0WrDLZJ "  That's just the sort of sassy, bluesy, jazzy music we happen to like.  Still, we already had dinner plans with friends for Saturday night and our

Todd English Olives at the Bellagio is one of our favorite ways to enjoy a nice Summer afternoon.  We recently paid them a return visit and got lucky with a table right next to the railing on the patio, over-looking the Bellagio Fountains.  The fountains don't start until 3 p.m. on weekdays, but on week-ends, especially holiday week-ends they start earlier and on our recent visit they were doing their show every 15 minutes, making it a great seat to enjoy our relaxing lunch. Starting with cocktails and a basket of their fresh bread accompanied with olive tapenades, the entire meal was wonderful.  We started with their Greek Salad which was not your typical version, but instead used baby red romaine lettuces topped with a phyllo triangle.  To go with the

The Bellagio Fountains have become a symbol of Las Vegas.  Whether it's in a movie or on the news, when you see those fountains, you know the location is at the Bellagio Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

For those of us who live in Las Vegas, we may not go to visit the Strip unless we're playing tour guide, or like some of us who frequently end up on the Strip as part of our work.  Having lived in Las Vegas for ten years now, I would still include the Bellagio Fountains as one of my favorite sites to see and a must see for anyone who comes to visit.

The Bellagio held its grand opening in 1998.  It was developed by visionary/Casino Mogul Steve Wynn and later sold to MGM.  With excellent service, established restaurants and other popular attractions

The Bellagio Conservatory is one of our favorite attractions on the Strip.  With a large space that is decorated to celebrate different seasons/holidays throughout the year, we try to make it by to see each of their new displays.  Each year, they tend to do a Patriotic Theme for Memorial Day and leave the display up through the July 4th holiday as well as Labor Day week-end.

This Summer's Display titled "Sail to New England" will be up through September 9th. The flowers are grown in the Bellagio's own greenhouse.  You'll find they frequently do sculptures of animals and even people using blooms from their green house to decorate them.

This display for Memorial Day features an old fashioned light house and small sailboat in the "lake" at the

The Havana Grill in Henderson reminds us of one of the reasons we love our desert life.  Located next to the Regal theaters at Eastern and Pebble, this is just North of the 215 which makes it a convenient location for us to stop for lunch when heading up to Anthem or Seven Hills for showing homes.

With a large selection of Cuban sodas, and tropical fruit juices it's easy to quench your thirst on a hot day by stopping in for lunch.  And, if it isn't a work day, they have a large selection of Cuban rums to really make you feel you're in the tropics.  Starting with the hot Cuban bread they bring to your table, you will find the food served here is authentic Cuban cuisine.  Our favorites include the Masitas (fried pieces of pork served with grilled
