What is The Las Vegas Strip?
The Las Vegas Strip, or just “The Strip” for short, is a lively stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South best-known for its bright lights and larger-than-life resort hotels and casinos that rank among the biggest resort properties on the planet. Over the years, however, The Strip has evolved into one of the busiest tourist destinations you’ll find anywhere in the world, and along with its stately hotels and casinos, it now also features towering residential high-rises, multi-purpose entertainment complexes, and about as much high-end shopping and dining mixed in between as you can imagine.
The Pros & Cons of Living Near The Strip
If you’re looking for a new place to live in Las Vegas that sits right in the middle of all the action, chances are you’ll also want to enjoy sweeping views of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. But like anywhere else, living near the Las Vegas Strip has both advantages and disadvantages:
Pros of Living Near The Las Vegas Strip:
- Great for entertaining. Can you really think of a better place to host friends and family than a home or condo with great views of the Las Vegas Strip? Let’s face it, if you’re planning to buy a place with views of The Strip.
- Resale Value. Given views of The Strip are a hot commodity in Las Vegas, resale value on a home or condo that has them tends to remain strong.
Cons of Living Near The Las Vegas Strip:
- Tourist Traffic. If you’re buying a place near the Vegas Strip to have as a full-time residence, be prepared for all the hustle-and-bustle that goes along with it. At first it may seem like a lot of fun, but over time it could become
- Higher Home Prices. Not surprisingly, views of the Las Vegas Strip come at a premium, so expect home and condo prices with a view to be more expensive. And remember: the better the view, the higher the asking price.
The Strip View Housing Market
Buying a home with a view of The Strip doesn’t necessarily mean living on or just off of Las Vegas Boulevard. In fact, dozens of condo building and neighborhoods alike offer amazing views of The Strip, providing prospective home buyers with a wide-variety of options that range of lavish high-rise condos to townhouse and single-family communities well outside of town.
If you’re thinking about a new condo residence, many luxury condo buildings offer views of the Strip, although several of my top choices include Waldorf Astoria Residences, One Queensridge, and Signature MGM Grand. On the single-family home side of the market, Spring Mountain Ranch, Mountain's Edge, Skyne Knoll, and any number of communities inside Summerlin are all excellent choices and worth consideration for any buyer, but especially one looking for a great view of The Strip and won’t settle for anything less.
